PROCESSING TIMES

The Department of Home Affairs imposes a cap in the number of parent visas granted each year. This limitation combined with the high demand for parent visas results in very long processing times, in particular for non-contributory parent visas such as the subclass 804. According to the Department, processing time can be up to 31 years. For this reason, many applicants are encouraged to pursue alternative options such as one of the contributory parent visas or the sponsored parent visa if a temporary stay meets the applicant's needs and expectations.
More information may be found at the Department's website.
